Papilio is an illustrated book Kathryn Burton and I created together for our Major Project during our final year at the Arts University Bournemouth.
Papilio has been designed to help discover the wide varieties of butterfly found in the United Kingdom.
British Wildlife can often be overlooked by the exotic creatures found in more tropical climates. Our aim has been to illustrate the exquisite butterflies which are indigineous to the United Kingdom. To capture their beautiful colours, textures and the intricate details that make up their anatomy.
Papilio follows the fascinating life cycle of the butterfly, offering an insight into their remarkable and ephemeral lives.
(Papilio is the Latin word for Butterfly.)
Below are photographs of a few select page spreads within the book.
